Thursday 19 March 2020 – 12.30 – 2pm

Hosted by Allen & Overy

SmartWomen Connect is delighted to collaborate with Allen & Overy to celebrate our second International Women’s Day event together.

This event gives us an opportunity to reflect on progress made in women’s equality in the workplace, while discussing the challenges and barriers that remain in place and debating solutions to shift the dial.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EachForEqual and we are pleased to host a panel who will share their personal experience of what they are doing at work and in their personal lives to create a more equal footing for women.

Moderated by SmartWomen Founder Fiona Craig, please join us to hear the collective wisdom of our panel members:

Sarah Abbott

Sarah has been the Head of Diversity, Leadership and Inclusion at the University of Sydney, since August 2017. Prior to this she was the Senior Diversity and Inclusion Manager for the Commonwealth Bank. This role included leading CBA’s renewed approach to flexibility with the roll out of the “I Can Flex” campaign across the Bank; redefining CBA’s approach to flexible work arrangements. This resulted in a change in approach from management and shift in employee empowerment. Throughout Sarah’s career she has led strategy in both the Australian and overseas markets with a focus on diversity.

Petrea Draper

Petrea is a senior lawyer and mother of three boys. She lived and worked in the Middle East for 13 years and returned to Sydney in 2018 to settle her family into life in Australia and re-establish her career locally. A “surprise” third child shortly after returning to Sydney derailed those plans, leading to her to reassess how to manage her family and her career.

Rob Sturrock

Rob Sturrock is an author, advocate and working father. He is considered a leading voice in parenting and masculinity debates. He has written widely, and been interviewed, about his experiences of being a working dad and juggling the responsibilities of home and work. His first book, Man Raises Boy: A revolutionary approach for fathers who want to raise kind, confident and happy sons is in stores nationwide on 3 March.

Come along and commit to #EachForEqual by joining the discussion. The event will start with a light lunch and networking, and you will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and contribute.

As a member based community we are all about creating strong connections. As a member you’ll be entitled to come along to our Smart Breakfast and other key events for free.

As a non-member you are welcome to attend two paid events, after which we can discuss whether you want to become part of the SmartWomen Clan. If you’ve already been to two events and want to talk with us about membership email and we will call you.

This event has sold out.
