“Some people go to priests. Others to poetry. I to my friends.”

– Virginia Woolfe

Jane McGrath was 31 when she was first
diagnosed with breast cancer.

Young, full of life, and about to marry her fiancé, Glenn McGrath, she had only good things ahead of her.

She survived the first diagnosis, only to be re-diagnosed with a recurrence 6 years later. Jane died at age 42, leaving her family, including her two children who were 6 and 8.

Jane left a legacy – she was the inspiration behind and co-founder of the McGrath Foundation, which places McGrath Breast Care nurses in hospitals and communities to support women with breast cancer. Since 2005, the McGrath Foundation has placed 120 McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia and supported 64,000 families experiencing breast cancer.

Many people know Jane’s story, but what many people may not know is that there was a very special person supporting Jane throughout all of her treatment and helping her realise her mission of helping other women and families with breast cancer.

This October, in honour of all the women who have walked the path of breast cancer, and to those who have supported their friends and families through breast cancer, we are delighted to welcome Tracy Bevan, McGrath Foundation Ambassador and Director, and Jane’s best friend, to tell her story.

Tracy and Jane’s story is incredibly moving. It’s full of happiness, pain, success, frustration, tears and laughter. It’s a raw and real story of passion, belief and unwavering commitment.

It’s a story of what is possible through the power of friendship.

And it’s a story we are privileged to share with all of you, to help raise awareness of the incidence of breast cancer in Australia and particularly in younger women, and to raise funds for the amazing work the McGrath Foundation continues to do.

Grab your own best friend and join our Founder Fiona Craig, who will host the event and share her own personal story of breast cancer, our members and guests in what we promise will be an uplifting morning in celebration of friendship and the power of human connection.

All profits from ticket sales for this event will go to The McGrath Foundation.
