As a non-executive director, you get a completely different experience, offering many tangible and non-tangible benefits. You can make a real impact, get involved in a cause you care about and learn unbeatable leadership skills. There are a myriad of unexpected benefits as well, including enhancing your credibility, reputation and personal brand, learn and develop skills in varying disciplines, and develop a more holistic view of how organisations work as a whole.

Claire Bibby

Gender equality on our corporate boards is an important factor in bettering the position for women AND for business in Australia.

The AICD reports that:

  1. The latest percentage of women on ASX 200 boards is 27.1% (31 March 2018)
  2. The percentage of women on boards of ASX 200 companies and the proportion of women comprising new appointments increased significantly from a low base of 8.3 percent in 2009
  3. A total of 7 boards in the ASX 200 still do not have any women

Clearly we still have a long way to go and while change may not be happening fast enough, it is happening.
