“Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing”
– Helen Keller
SMART NETWORKING SYDNEY
Thursday 27 September, 5.30 – 7.30PM
With Guest Speaker: Suzanne Westgate
How many times have you watched people do something and thought “wow, I wish I could do that!”?
How many times have you dreamed of following a passion, creating something, doing something outside of your normal routine, but you’ve been stopped by the voice inside your head saying
“Don’t be daft! You don’t have the time/money/skill/confidence [insert relevant excuse here] to do that!”
We are all born with a sense of adventure and craving for learning and experiencing new things. Then in our adult years real life kicks in and we leave our dreams behind, focusing on the ‘important’ stuff like work, money and families.
But it’s never too late to do something you dream of.
And it’s never too late to create a new adventure.
That’s what our Smart Networking guest speaker Suzanne Westgate has done – quite literally – in publishing her first book in a series of children’s novels – The Joneses and the Pirateers – Search for the Phantom Lady.
All royalties from the sale of the book are donated to Project Futures, a small, Sydney based charity which supports safe houses for children and women affected by human trafficking in Cambodia and Australia.
As well as being a brand new published author, Suzanne has forged a successful legal and management career, most recently as the General Manager of Operational Services for AGL Energy, responsible for all workplace, real estate and technical training aspects across the business.
Suzanne was originally a lawyer, previously with Allens Linklaters and joined AGL as an in-house lawyer in 2011.
Join us for an evening of networking and inspiration from Suzanne, who will be talking about the adventure of writing a book while working full time, as well as the wonderful work that Project Futures do.
This event is ideal for any woman seeking inspiration to follow a passion, start a side project or do something that makes a difference to themselves and others, alongside their day job.
Tickets include drinks and light snacks on the night.
Suzanne’s book will be available to purchase at the event.
